DHORDO · WHITE RANN

Luxury tents in Dhordo, beside the white horizon.

A small collection on the Khavda–Dhordo road: canvas, timber and a meal to return to, with the salt desert as the reason for being here.

THE ADDRESS

On the road between Khavda and Dhordo.

Namak Resort stands on the Khavda–Dhordo road, near Dhordo, in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat 370510, India. The published pin is 23.808395, 69.533060. Dhordo is the village the White Rann is known by, and the village named a Best Tourism Village in 2023. The recognition belongs to the place. It is not an award claimed for the resort.

The first view is a white silhouette: raised roof, scalloped eaves, screened front, brown grounds and a red walkway. There are twenty-one stays.

Open the pin on Google Maps, or read how the same address suits a Rann Utsav stay.

THE COLLECTION

Twenty-one tents. Three ways to settle in.

Every rate below is per tent or suite, per night, for two guests. GST is extra. An extra person is priced separately, and only after reservations confirm that the category can take another guest on your dates.

Ten Premium tents

392 sq ft. ₹8,500 + GST per night. Breakfast, hi-tea and dinner are included, with a cultural programme. The interior is a quieter palette: white bedding, warm ochre, star-patterned canvas, a simple timber bed, fitted carpet, a layered rug, and a sofa facing the bed. An extra person is ₹2,500 + GST per night.

Ten Super Premium tents

520 sq ft. ₹10,500 + GST per night, with the same meals and the same cultural programme. The gift is room, not a different set of claims. The extra-person charge is also ₹2,500 + GST per night.

One Darbari Suite

1,200 sq ft. ₹28,000 + GST per night on all days, including full-moon and festive dates. All meals, priority check-in, and pickup, drop-off, sightseeing and transfers as per the confirmed itinerary. Early check-in and late checkout are complimentary only when availability allows. An extra person is ₹6,000 + GST per night.

Full-moon and festive-week supplements apply to the tents, not to the suite. November and February full-moon dates add ₹1,500 + GST per tent per night. From 18 to 31 December, and on the January full moon, the addition is ₹3,000 + GST. The published totals before GST are ₹10,000 or ₹11,500 for Premium, and ₹12,000 or ₹13,500 for Super Premium. The season calendar is the place to match a date to a band.

INSIDE THE CANVAS

A room to come back to, not a list of gadgets.

Step inside and the landscape gives way to texture. The sleeping space is deliberately uncluttered. Seating sits opposite the bed, so the tent has two places to pause. A tall timber mirror and dressing console leave an open corner in which to get ready.

These are the details the collection actually describes. Anything beyond them, including bed configuration, is confirmed with reservations rather than read off a photograph. Illustrations follow the approved interiors. The Darbari Suite does not yet have its own photograph on the site. Menus, meal timings and the cultural programme are agreed when the stay is planned.

DHORDO OR BHUJ

A desert stay and a city base are different kinds of journey.

Bhuj is the city many journeys through Kutch pass into. It has the character of a town: streets, shops and hotels gathered away from the salt. Staying there keeps the White Rann as an outing you must still go and meet. Staying in Dhordo makes the salt the thing you wake beside.

The difference is one of setting. Namak does not publish driving times or distances. If the journey from the city matters, ask reservations from your arrival point. Access is confirmed before you travel.

A city hotel suits someone who wants the town as a base and is content to treat the desert as a separate outing. A Namak tent reverses that emphasis. Hodka, Nirona and Road to Heaven can still be part of the day, but only when the package names them. They are not a standard part of a Premium or Super Premium tent. Read the villages on Discover Kutch, and a two-night shape in the travel guide.

ARRIVING

Write or call before you fix the route.

Say where you are coming from, how many guests are travelling, and whether Darbari pickup is needed. Premium and Super Premium enquiries should not assume a transfer. The only public number is +91 96240 00466, also on WhatsApp, or write to namakrannofkutch@gmail.com. A message does not hold the tent. Availability and the total, including GST, come back from reservations.

If you are choosing dates, start with the journal note on planning a Rann Utsav stay.
